After a few years in England in a cramped 5-bedroom house -- yes, it felt like 3 bedrooms on a good day -- I thought we should move. I scoured the lettings around our area and came up with an estate house on a race horse training property. Yep, that only happens to me. And boy was it amazing, as close to Downton Abbey as I will ever be. Unfortunately I cannot post a photo of it here because it is permanently upside down thanks to a glitch with the iPhone camera.
The reason this estate letting was even in our range is because it was stuck in the 1950s. Let's say it needed some updating and a refrigerator actually in the kitchen, not down the hall. Regardless, I took in every detail.
We just couldn't pull the trigger because a hot shower is so important, however this little nugget stayed with me. The house had its vintage furnishings along with horse and dog portraits in the formal living room. I suppose at one time the family had many beloved dogs on the property. I snapped this photo of one because I knew one day I'd have a pup of my own and want to do the same.
Isn't this sweet? I wonder what happened to this little Jack Russell. His name was "Jumbo." Hattie better get ready for her sitting!
