Kitchen Cabinets are in (mostly)

I was lucky to be in town long enough to see the kitchen cabs installed Tuesday - here's a snap. Yes, the island is red and I love it! And today I'm back in Zurich preparing for the move-out on Monday. Whew!

Choosing a red for kitchen island color

I originally wanted to paint the island a sage green color, but we have selected that (Ben Moore Silver Sage) for the walls throughout the upstairs, and it looks great! The golden yellows that will be in the hardwood floor (hickory) and the stained wood that is going on the ceilings and beams really ruled out any shade of yellow on the walls. So, now to the kitchen!

I've already selected Swiss Coffee (Ben Moore) for the trim throughout (basically an off-white) and will use the same for the wall cabinets -- and they will also have a light glaze. The counter-top is a dark green granite -- Leathered Ubatuba -- and so that leaves the island color. I'd like to have a feature color there. And I'm looking at dark reds. Maybe it is just the falling leaves outside, but this red just works for me. In the running are Ben Moore Sangria and Country Redwood.
