After one year of renovation at our lake house in Tennessee, we now consider Phase One finished -- well, if you don't count the landscaping. Or the fact there are no window treatments. The entire yard was bulldozed and is now overgrown with weeds. But we're working on it.
Above is a sneak peek at the Before & After album I am putting together. I'll publish in a day or two. I think this may be the most photographed renovation in history. All our decisions had to be made long-distance as I was on location and Rob was not. The B&A photos tell a dramatic story. We gutted and rearranged the layout of the main living areas upstairs -- and you can see all the space we gained with the screened porch.
I'm going to back away from this project for the winter. I'm sure we'll get geared up again in the spring -- all the old furnishings look even older and shabbier in the new space.
I'll continue to add the random post as I stumble upon something amazing or creative I want to capture.
Our contractor, DeVille Construction, never let us down, I highly recommend Donald as a manager with a go-getter attitude, and David B. as a master craftsman. I worry that the skills of craftsmen like David are going to be lost to our service-based economy. They were a pleasure to work with, great communicators. And thanks to our patient and thoughtful architect Clayton Rogers. We could have never moved forward without you! I know I owe you all some photos -- soon!
